Every time I read a poem by Liam Bates I am struck down by this curious malady that I can only describe as Enjoyable Depression. It’s good stuff. Everyone should try it.

Liam Bates’ poetry is that rare thing: work which captures the absurdity of the mundane and mundanity of the absurd. He writes with a distinct voice. Liam Bates is not just a poet to watch for the future, but already a poet to read for the now.
